Russia opts for another "Space Race"

In a race to be the first at something, again, the Russians are looking to do something that has never been done before.
The Russians confirmed on Wednesday that they are studying scenarios that would fly the Olympic flame to the International Space Station prior to the 2014 Olympic games in Sochi.
"The idea itself is very interesting and, in theory, could be implemented. But ways of its realization must be studied painstakingly," Vitaly Davydov, the deputy head of Russian Federal Space Agency, said.
"Frankly speaking, we have not studied possibilities to deliver [the] Olympic flame to the ISS. This is a very specific issue. Naked flame onboard the space station is prohibited for safety reasons," he added.
Russia has been pulling out all the stops since winning the 2014 games including lighting the torch in space via sunbeams. However tradition will prevent that from taking place
The Russians appear to be taking all steps necessary to provide a clearer PR image of the country as well as an all out push to win as many medals as possible.
We hear that the athletic factories are running at full steam.
